Daily Landscaping installs gazebos across Greater Pittsburgh and Northwest Pennsylvania. A gazebo gives you a shaded, covered spot that works in the rain and in full sun, which is more than a pergola will do.
The part that decides whether it lasts is what it sits on. Call (724) 605-4822 for a free quote.
Most gazebo problems around here are foundation problems. Our ground is heavy clay that heaves through freeze and thaw, and a gazebo set on blocks or on a slab that never got below the frost line will move. Once it moves, the posts go out of plumb and the roof follows.
We set footings below the frost line, which in Western Pennsylvania means going down about three feet, and we grade so water runs away from the structure instead of collecting under it.
A gazebo can go straight into the lawn as a destination at the back of the property, or it can be built into a patio so it becomes the covered end of an outdoor living space.
If you are putting in a patio anyway, doing both at once is cheaper, and it comes out looking like one project instead of two things that happened to end up next to each other.
A pergola has an open roof. It defines a space and gives you partial shade, but you will still get wet. A gazebo has a solid roof, so it works in the rain.
We will tell you honestly which one suits what you actually want to do out there. If the point is to sit outside during a summer storm, a pergola is the wrong answer.
If you want partial shade rather than a solid roof, look at pergola installation instead.
Daily Landscaping has been going since 2014. Owner TJ Belsterling runs the crews himself, and if you deal with this company you deal with him. There is not a client we work with that TJ has not spoken to personally.
Every estimate goes out within 48 hours, and usually within 24. If you have ever had a contractor walk your property and then never send anything, that is the promise we are making. You get a written, itemised estimate, not a number shouted over the phone.
We are not going to be your cheapest bid, and we will tell you that up front. We stand behind our workmanship: if something we built is not right, we come back and make it right.

It depends on your borough or township and on the size of the structure. Many municipalities require a permit once you pass a certain footprint. We will tell you what your municipality requires before we start.
Footings that get below the frost line, which is roughly three feet here. Skip that and the freeze and thaw cycle in our clay soil will heave the structure out of level.
A pergola has an open roof and gives partial shade. A gazebo has a solid roof, so it keeps the rain off. If you want to sit out there in a downpour, you want a gazebo.
Sometimes. It depends on what the patio was built on, because the gazebo still needs proper footings underneath. We will look at it and be straight with you.
